How big is the tower? We have 2 abseil walls (8 & 16 meters high) and a climbing wall (9 metres high) What times are you open? By appointment only. As the tower is totally run by volunteers that have other jobs, the sessions available are usually after 5.30pm weekdays or during the weekend. Most sessions are 2-3 hours long. How many people can you take at a time? The minimum number is 10 and maximum is 30 for a single session. We can also do larger groups (i.e. company picnics) where the people come on a staggered basis and have a few abseil/climbs before moving on. How old do you have to be to take part? Recommended from ages 9 - 99 years. For younger aged groups we will not run the high abseil tower and try to have a higher instructor/participant ratio. What do you have to wear? Lace up shoes with rubber soles are best. Wear clothing suitable for the weather and have an extra layer if cool. Have a top that is long enough to tuck in as the harness can rub if you have bare skin around your waist. All drawcords should be tucked inside the clothing and long hair tied back. Skirts are not recommended. Can anyone have a go? We have had people in wheelchairs, deaf, blind, people in their 80's, special needs & people with fear of heights all have a go. Just let us know in advance so we can have the appropriate number of instructors. Can we still climb & abseil if it is raining? For safety reasons, if there is rain, very high winds or the tower is wet or icy we will cancel the booking. How dangerous is it? If you obey the instructors it is very safe. Is it scary? It can be, but it is also a lot of fun! How much does it cost? Children under 15 years $7.00 per person and adults $10.00 per person. What experience/qualifications do the instructors have? The instructor in charge of the group is very highly experienced (Level 4 rating) and does the check of all the equipment set up. The other instructors will have a variety of experience but will have jobs allocated to their training level or be supervised if training on a new position. |
