The Tower was originally built in Rangioria for the 11th New Zealand Scout Jamboree in 1987. After the Jamboree was over it was decided to put it on a permanent site at Blue Skies in Kaiapoi. So it was disassembled and taken to the new site to be put back up.

However it was the first free-standing abseiling tower in New Zealand. When it came to get council approval, there wasn't a box to tick for abseiling tower. So we have the largest garden shed in the country to abseil down!

The high abseil is 16 metres high

The low abseil is 8 meters high

The climbing wall is 9 meters high

The tower is totally manned by trained volunteers and all sessions are weather dependant.
